Privacy Policy

Grahika (“we”, “us”) provides Vedic astrology calculations and interpretation via our website and mobile app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We keep it short and honest.

What we collect

• Account details — your name, email, optional phone number, and (if you set one) password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way bcrypt hash; we never see them.
• Birth details you enter — for each chart: name, date, time, and place of birth (city coordinates). These are needed to compute a horoscope.
• Charts you save — stored to your account so they sync across your devices.
• Basic technical logs — IP address and request time, used for security and rate-limiting.
• Sign-in history — the date, time and method (password or Google) of each sign-in, used to secure your account and to understand how often the product is used.
• Anonymous usage analytics — pages viewed, referring site, country/city derived from IP, device and browser type, and actions such as “chart calculated”. Collected with Umami, a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool running on our own servers; it sets no cookies and does not identify you personally.

You can use most calculations as a guest without an account. An account is needed only to save charts and use account features.

How we use it

• To calculate and display charts, dashās, and interpretations.
• To save and sync your charts across devices.
• To secure the service (rate-limiting, abuse prevention).

What we do NOT do

• We do not sell your personal data.
• We do not use your birth details for advertising.
• We do not share your data with third parties except the infrastructure needed to run the service (see below).

Third parties we rely on

• Cloud hosting (Oracle Cloud) — stores our database and serves the app.
• OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — used to look up city coordinates when you type a birth place.
• Email delivery (Resend) — sends account emails such as password-reset links; receives only your email address and the message.
• Google Sign-In (optional) — if you choose it, Google shares your name and verified email so we can create your account.
• AI interpretation — where an AI-written reading is offered, chart summary data may be sent to an AI provider to generate that text. No account credentials are sent.

Data storage & retention

Data is stored on encrypted-in-transit (HTTPS) connections in our cloud database, with daily encrypted backups. We keep your saved charts until you delete them or close your account.

Your rights

• Access, correct, or delete your charts from within the app.
• Request full account deletion by emailing us — we will remove your account and saved data.
• Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may also request a summary of the personal data we hold about you, correction of it, or nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf. Write to the contact address below; we respond within 30 days.

Children

Grahika is not directed at anyone under 18. Please do not create an account if you are under 18.
